Introduction to the Movies
Personal Insights
I don't remember what my first exposure to motion pictures was, but I do have a lot of fond memories
of movies from the era of the 1950s and 1960s. While I was growing up, my parents had several good friends
in the U.S. Navy who would be stationed on St. Thomas during the winter months while war games took place
in the Caribbean. Thanks to these family friends, my father was able to borrow some of the 16mm prints
of movies that were played for the Navy guys who were here for the war games. As a result, I grew up
seeing many of the big budget musicals, dramas, action adventures, and comedies of that era. This section
of Sandcastle V.I. pays tribute to some of my favorite movies -- ranging from the musical magic of
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, to the Disney animated classics, to the latest and greatest scifi flixs.
I hope you have fun exploring these pages.
