The Avengers (Proposed Feature Film)
December 1963

In December 1963, the producers of The Avengers were approached about the idea of a feature film starring Patrick Macnee as John Steed and Honor Blackman as Cathrine Gale and two American actors as U.S. counterparts (a male and a female) who would join Steed and Gale in a mission to avenge the massacre of British and American diplomat-trainees by unknown assassins in Beirut, Lebanon. After the departure of Ms. Blackman from The Avengers television series, production plans for the film were dropped.

The Strange Case of the Missing Corpse (Promotional Piece)
March 1966

Around March 1966, a short color piece with the title above was shot on the set of the black and white episode "Honey for the Prince" to promote the upcoming color season of The Avengers. The promotional piece that aired in the U.S. was 1 minute in length, but a 10-minute version was reportedly recently found at a film archive in California.

The Avengers (Stage Play)
July 1971

On July 20, 1971, a stage version of The Avengers premiered in London starring Simon Oates as John Steed and Sue Lloyd as his new partner Hannah Wild. The story was about the attempts by the evil Madame Gerda (Kate O'Mara) to overthrow the governments of the world with the help of a super-computer and a bevy of beautiful women. The show ran for only about 5 weeks.

The Avengers (Radio Series)
January 1972

Beginning in January 1972, a series of radio programs based on episodes of The Avengers aired in South Africa, with Donald Monat as John Steed and Diane Appleby as Mrs. Emma Peel. The televisions series that were used were serialized into 15-minute radio broadcasts. The following episodes were broadcast in this format:

From Venus with Love
The Joker
Dial a Deadly Number
The Quick, Quick Slow Death
A Sense of History
The Fantasy Game (aka Honey for the Prince)

Avengers USA (Proposed Series)
1978

In 1978, the pilot episode -- titled "Escapade" -- for a new series to be called The Avengers USA was produced and aired on the U.S. CBS network. Starring Granville Van Dusen as CIA agent Joshua and Morgan Fairchild as his partner Suzy, the script called for the two to be selected by a computer known as "Oz" to investigate the case of a freelance agent who is selling security secrets to the highest bidder. However, the series was canceled after the airing of the pilot episode.

The Avengers - International (Proposed Series)
March 1985

After talk in 1979/1980 of a new Avengers series to be produced for the U.S. CBS network with Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg possibly reprising their roles, in March 1985, a media magazine published an article about another attempt by the original producers of The Avengers to resurrect the show for the U.S. market under the title The Avengers - International. The script for the premiere episode -- to be titled "Reincarnation" -- was even drafted, having Steed running for his life from a younger killer with the transplanted brain of a man Steed had killed many years before. However, this proposed series also never happened.

The Avengers (Feature Film)
August 1998

In August 1998, The Avengers finally reappeared in a Warner Brothers feature film. In the story, John Steed (Robert Fiennes) and Emma Peel (Uma Thurman) reunite to do battle with Sir August de Wynter (Sean Connery), who has invented a device to control the weather for evil purposes. Patrick Macnee made a cameo appearance as the voice of the invisible archive director I. Jones. However, the film did not have the charm of the original series, and it was generally panned by critics and viewers alike.
