The National Maritime Museum, Warships' Histories: Enterprize/Enterprise (1978) indicates that this 5th rate vessel was built in 1709 as the Enterprise, renamed as the Liverpool on February 20, 1740, converted to a hospital ship in 1743, and sold in 1749. J.J. Colledge, Ships of the Royal Navy from the Fifteenth Century to the Present (1961) states that there were two different ships. According to this source, the 5th rate Enterprise of 1709 was converted to a coal carrying hulk in 1745 and sold in 1749. This source further indicates that another 5th rate Enterprise (construction date not given) was renamed as the Liverpool on February 20, 1741 and sold in 1756. The information presented in Warships' Histories: Enterprize/Enterprise has been used in this history.
