Merizo (originally called Malesso) is the southernmost village on Guam, and it has a lot of history. The Merizo Bell Tower was built around 1910 under the direction of Padre Critobal de Canals and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. Merizo Conbento was constructed after a smallpox outbreak in 1856 and, since that time, has been used as the rectory of Merizo's village church. Merizo Pier Park is a protected recreational area from which visitors can take a short ferry ride to Cocos Island.

Cocos Island is a 100-acre island resort just off the southern tip of Guam. The resort offers jet skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkeling, and quiet swimming in the crystal waters of the protected lagoon in which the island is located.
