A Drive Around Guam, USA
Stop 12 - Guam Night Life
Most of the resort hotels along Tumon Bay have dinner shows that feature local music and dancing mixed in with a delicious Guamanian style barbecue feast. A popular night time attraction is Jimmy Dee's Chamorro Dinner Show, which features the traditional barbecue plus a lively show by the Chamorrita dancers and Jimmy Dee's own special blend of Chamorro and American country music.
For a touch of "home" (if you're from the United States), along the main road in the Tumon district you'll find such back home favorites as Hard Rock Cafe (where we saw a Supremes tribute group and a Jimmi Hendrix impersonator perform), a Planet Hollywood, a T.G.I. Friday's, and many others. Coming by the year 2000 to this area will be a virtual reality theme park based on technology developed by Steven Spielberg and an underwater amusement park and aquarium.
[Photo from a Sand Castle Dinner Club promotional brochure]For the ultimate in "back home" entertainment, the Sand Castle dinner club (no relationship to this web site) features an authentic Las Vegas-style show featuring elaborately costumed dancers and a first rate magician/illusionist and, for the more active, a high energy discoteque.
As we prepare to leave this Pacific paradise, even the heavens present us with a great light show. In the clear Guamanian night sky, a crescent Moon and the planet Venus seem to be close enough to touch. Maybe you'll have the opportunity to experience one of those magical Guamanian nights sometime.
