A Drive Around Oahu, Hawaii

Stop 3 - Southshore Beaches

Hanauma Bay Park is located at Oahu's southeastern tip. It is a protected bay that is also a sealife sanctuary. As a result, the fish are so accustomed of humans that they will literally eat from your hands. The crystal clear water makes snorkeling among the coral a special treat.

Blow Hole
Blow Hole's geyser is strongest when the surf is rough

A short distance away from Hanauma is the rugged rocky coast near Sandy Bay. Here you'll find Blow Hole, which is a crevice in the rocks that let the ocean waves go under the rocks and then blow out a hole the top like a geyser.

Just to the east of Blow Hole is Sandy Bay, which seems to be mis-named, considering the rugged rocks that surround the beach area.

"Around the bend" on the southern tip of Oahu's eastern (windward) shore is Makapuu Bay. Just off shore are Rabbit and Black Islands, and just inland from Makapuu Bay is the location of Sea Life Park, a combination research center and amusement park in the style of Sea World.
