A Drive Around St. Thomas

Stop 6 - Coki Bay, Coral World, and
the Sugar Bay and Rennaisance Resorts

Coki Bay
Coki Bay is a favorite spot on the weekends

Coki Bay is another one of St. Thomas's fines beaches. This one is especially good for those who like to snorkel or scuba dive and, in fact, scuba lessons are given here daily. Coki Bay is also the site of Coral World.

Coral World Tower
Coral World's underwater observation tower

Coral World Exhibit
One of Coral World's many underwater sights

Coral World is a water park attraction that features an underwater viewing tower that lets visitors look at fish and other sea creatures living in an open environment. Coral World also has aquarium tanks with examples of smaller exotic sea creatures, a nature trail, and a variety of art and craft shops. Other highlights include the daily shark feedings and "hands-on" tidal pools.

Sugar Bay Resort
The Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort

Another one of the east coast resorts is the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort. This is one of the newer resorts on the St. Thomas, and it also had to undergo major repairs after the 1995 hurricane.

Grand Beach Resort
The Renaissance Grand Beach Resort

Despite frequent changes in ownership, the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort has been around since the early 1970s, when it was known as the Pineapple Beach Resort. This was a favorite spot of my wife and I for dining and dancing when we were first dating. We still visit regularly for the Resort's fine Sunday brunch.
